After a few conversations with musically inclined friends in NYC, it has become clear that my favorite place to find scores and books about classical music in the city is something of a hidden gem, as none had heard of it. A sister store to my frequent haunt, the well-known Westsider Rare & Used Books, Westsider Records (233 West 72nd St., since 1997) is the last of its kind and more should be let in on the secret.
If you’re looking for a digital footprint, you’ll find Westsider Records’ website – which is as vintage as the store itself and boasts a VHS to DVD transfer service. Best to visit the store in person.
